Adam Mosseri will now head Instagram social network company. He was working with Instagram as the Vice President of Product.
Co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, who announced they’re quitting Instagram, said they were thrilled while handing over the reins to Adam Mosseri.
Adam has been hailed as a product leader with a strong design background and a focus on craft and simplicity — as well as a deep understanding of the importance of community.
Adam began his career as a designer, managed his own design consultancy, and then joined the Facebook design team in 2008.
Since Adam joined, he moved from design into product management, and spent time working on Mobile then News Feed and most recently, he was recruited to Instagram.
In his role leading Instagram, Adam will oversee all functions of the business and will recruit a new executive team including a head of engineering, head of product and head of operations.
“Since we announced our departure, many people have asked us what we hope for the future of Instagram. To us, the most important thing is keeping our community — all of you — front and centre in all that Instagram does. We believe that Adam will hold true to these values and that Instagram will continue to thrive,” Kevin and Mike said in a joint statement.
“We remain excited for the future of Instagram in the coming years as we transition from being leaders at Instagram to being just two users in a billion. We’re confident that under Adam’s leadership, Instagram will evolve and improve and we look forward to the future of the product and community,” they added.
Reacting to the announcement, Adam said – “Humbled and excited by the new role leading Instagram, thank you Kevin and Mike for all you’ve done.”
The impact of Kevin and Mike over Instagram has been incredible. They built a product people love that brings joy and connection to so many lives. And Adam said, “I want to thank them for trusting me to carry forward the values that they have established. I will do my best to make them, the team, and the Instagram community proud.”
