Film Review – Sui Dhaaga: Made in India

12

Sui Dhaaga is the latest from Yash Raj Films. Tagged with Made in India slogan, Varun-Anushka-starrer Sui Dhaaga is entertaining and hilarious.

The film is directed by Sharat Katariya who has Dum Laga Ke Haisha in his pocket before this.

Sharat has a different genre of films where you can see married couples dealing with daily ups and downs, together.

There is a flavour of the earth in his movies and that is what Sui Dhaga is about.

The film opens with a busy household where Mauji (Varun Dhawan) lives with his parents and wife Mamta (Anushka Sharma), who looks after them all day.

Mauji and Mamta barely get to see each other and virtually have no time together.

Well, the movie is not about their love, rather it is about how Mauji and Mamta grow together and face the world encouraging each other, making a name for themselves.

In Sui Dhaaga, you’ll notice brand promotions of Usha sewing machines, Amazon and Raymond

In the first 15 minutes, Mauji’s parents (Raghubir Yadav and Yamini Das) take all the screen time where you can see fresh wave of brilliant comic timing and acting talent.

Sui Dhaga: Made in India is an entertainer with great comic timing and some good acting.

The film travels as Mamta gets offended seeing how badly Mauji is treated by his employers. She urges her husband to take over the long forgotten family business.

With great reluctance from his father who never saw the light of the day in the business, Mauji still plunges into starting his own line of work.

The film is lifted by the costumes they make which are really good and appreciated. The costumes are designed by Darshan Jalan and Neelanchal Kumar Ghosh.

Director: Sharat Katariya, Genre: Comedy-Drama, Cast: Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma, Raghubir Yadav and Yamini Das.
