I so agree to all that he wrote. It is a stupendous film indeed, astounding from the first frame to the last detail.
Film Director Dhulia rules once again — O boy, from Allahabad University and a product of National School of Drama, well applauded for “Haasil” (2003). AND HE HAS DONE IT AGAIN. He, who started as a Casting Director in “Bandit Queen” (1994) years back, has outdone himself in “Paan Singh Tomar” (2012). And do you recall him for his “Dil Se” (1998) screenplay!!!
It is marvellous from shot to shot – a tight and compact two hours or so; no time wasted on songs and the etc.s. He sang the story of the unsung hero “Tomar” of whom people had not and still have not heard before. He has done justice to each and every character in the movie.
Irrfan Khan has also performed his best, till date. This movie is going to take him places, surely. From 1950 to the end, he has worn the look so perfectly. Flawlessly marvelous is what I would say “Paan Singh Tomar” is and kudos to Tigmanshu Dhulia and Irrfan Khan with all the actors and all those connected to this outstanding movie. He sang the unsung sport heroes so well and kept the audience hanging on from shot to shot.
The youth of India clapped and whistled for the triumph and felt for the loss of a forgotten national sports hero. His tragedy struck them deep and his achievements were applauded. So in totality this was a treat in all ways.
And I would also say the intoxication goes on.

Paan Singh Tomar
Paan Singh Tomar is the true story of a runner who turned into a rebel. It is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, and produced by UTV Motion Pictures. Irrfan Khan plays the title character.
Plot
From a small town of Madhya Pradesh, Paan Singh Tomar joins the Rajputana Rifles to escape poverty. He then becomes a runner and wins the steeplechase event at the Indian National Games for seven years in a row. He gives up running and his post in the Army and goes on to become a baaghi who wreaks havoc in the Chambal Valley.

Production
The film was shot in Rajasthan and in the actual barracks Tomar lived in at Roorkee. To prepare for his role, Irrfan Khan trained rigorously with steeplechase coaches. He called the experience “the most physically and mentally demanding film of my career”.
